Configuration

Step 1 – Verifying your domains

Integration with Trustifi’s inbound relay via MX requires you to first go through the domain verification process for each domain you want to protect. Please follow the steps outlined in our domain verification guide, before returning to step 2 of this guide.

Step 2 – Navigating to “Email Relay Integration”

First, you will need to log into the Trustifi web portal using your admin credentials. Once logged in, click on “Inbound Management” on the left side navigation bar and then click on the “Plan Settings” page.

Step 3 – Selecting MX architecture

At this point you can choose between the default Email Relay architecture, and the MX architecture. To changing the architecture click on “Via MX” under “Email Relay Architecture“.

Step 4 – Adding domain and MTA

Under “Domain and MTA“, you will need to enter the domains which are going to be connected to Trustifi, and the corresponding MTA for each domain. This is so Trustifi will know where to send back emails after they’ve been scanned. Please note the following:
  • You can click on “Resolve host” next to “Domain” to automatically add the domain’s MTA
  • Port will usually be 25
  • When using the MX architecture, you can only add domains which have been verified in Trustifi

Step 5 – Modifying your MX record

At this point the configuration on the Trustifi side is complete, and the next step is changing the MX record in your domain’s DNS environment to start routing emails to Trustifi. You can easily copy the Trustifi MX record from the “Configure MX connection” section by clicking on the copy icon. The process of changing an MX record varies between different DNS management systems. If you are not sure how to perform this process, our team can assist or you can consult your organization’s IT professional(s). Once the Trustifi MX record has been updated in your DNS environment, all external mail flow will be routed via Trustifi and will be scanned for all types of threats as well as spam and graymail.
