Smart Banners

“Smart banners” are informational banners/headers that are displayed at the top of emails that were scanned by Trustifi.

Smart banners are meant to facilitate and improve security awareness for users by providing security-related information about the sender or the email.
Users can refer to this information if they are not sure about the validity of the sender’s identity or the content of the email itself.

Enabling Smart Banners

To enable smart banners, navigate to the “Inbound Shield” section under “Inbound Management” and go to the “Security Awareness” tab.

From there, simply click on the “Enable” toggle under the “Smart Banner” section to apply smart banners for all users.

Smart Banner Configurations

Once smart banners are enabled, you may choose to enable or disable specific configurations that affect the look and behavior of these banners.

Skip for internal emails

If this setting is enabled, smart banners will only apply to emails from external senders, and will not appear for emails sent from internal domains.

Skip for contact emails

When enabled, smart banners will not be applied to emails sent from known contacts of the recipient.

Allow report

Enable this configuration to allow users to report emails as safe or as malicious directly from the smart banner. Reporting is done by one of 2 buttons that appear in the banner:

  • “Report email” will report the email as malicious
  • “Trust email” will report the email as safe

When reporting is enabled, a quarantine record will be created for all emails containing a smart banner.

Add “External” note

When this configuration is enabled, the smart banner will notify when emails are received from external senders.

Add positive feedback

When enabled, the smart banners will also display “positive” information about the sender or the email – for example if the email is sent from a known contact, or from a trusted source.
