After the Trustifi Inbound Shield system has been deployed either by API or by an inbound email relay, we recommend performing the tests listed below to make sure mail flow is working as expected and that threats are being quarantined.
Note: The screenshots in this document are taken from an Office365 environment, but the same tests should be done on Google Workspaces and should look very similar.
Test 1 – Safe email from internal sender
Note: If you are connected to Inbound Shield using the email relay and the mail flow rule is configured to only apply for external senders, you can skip this test.
Test scenario:
Send an email from an internal sender to one of the protected mailboxes.
Expected results:

- The email will successfully arrive to the recipient’s mailbox
- The email will display the following footer: This email has been scanned by Inbound Shield™.
Test 2 – Safe email from external sender
Test scenario:
Send an email from an external sender to one of the protected mailboxes.
Expected results:

- The email will successfully arrive to the recipient’s mailbox
- The email will display the following footer: This email has been scanned by Inbound Shield™.
Test 3 – Malicious email from external sender
Test scenario:
Send a malicious email from an external sender to one of the protected mailboxes.

Expected results:

- The email will be quarantined and not arrive to the recipient’s mailbox
- The email will appear in the “Quarantined emails” list
Test 4 – Release a quarantined email
Test scenario:
Release an email from quarantine back to the recipient’s mailbox.
Expected results:

- The email will be successfully released from quarantine
- The email will display the following footer: This email has been scanned by Inbound Shield™ and released by a reviewer.
