The Challenge

Reduce the cost of email security while scaling up new protective layers to address the need to encrypt all email communications and better reduce spam and email phishing attacks, all integrated into a single management console.

John Haddigan, Vice President of Information Technology at Roche Bros. supermarkets, needed to address phishing before cybercriminals, phishers, and hackers breached their critical store systems and possibly stole essential corporate data.

Roche Bros. discovered several other challenges with their email gateway solution, including:

• Very complex rules wizard to help secure emails.
• The time to set up is longer than expected.
• The console is prone to human error.
• It is very tricky for end-users to encrypt messages to and from food suppliers, wholesale customers, and store partners.
• Trusting personal addresses used by the CEO and executive teams became challenging for the organization to support with their existing email gateway solution.

Previously, Roche Bros. leveraged tools from Microsoft to run simulated phishing attacks to test their internal users to see how many click on these test messages. An alarming number of users did click on the “test phish” email. The current solution, Area One/CloudFlare, allowed many phishing emails to enter the 600 corporate email boxes, causing great concern across the entire organization.

John needed to address the need for a better way to encrypt all email communications with a much easier workflow. The current solution deployed by Roche Bros. became a challenge for its user community and more costly than expected.
